Welcome to the River & Vine Blog
Updated: Oct 4
There is a moment in every woman's life when she decides to stop shrinking and start building.
Sometimes it happens after a season of loss. Sometimes after years of silence. And sometimes it happens quietly — in the simple act of being in a room full of women who believe the same thing you are only beginning to believe about yourself. Those are the moments River & Vine was built around.
This blog is where we put the stories, the lessons, and the truth about what it actually takes to dismantle barriers and create new pathways for women in Georgia and beyond. You will not find curated success stories stripped of their struggle. You will find the real thing: what economic independence looks like when you are starting from scratch, what it means to walk away from abuse with nothing but your children and your determination, and what happens when a community decides to show up for itself.
River & Vine was founded on one conviction: empowering a woman empowers a community. That is not a tagline. It is a pattern we have watched repeat itself in the work our programs do every day.
When a woman gains financial footing — through one of our micro-grants, through a financial literacy seminar, through a business idea finally given room to breathe — the people around her feel it. Her children feel it. Her neighborhood feels it. The change is never only hers.
The same is true for education, for leadership, for the simple act of being seen and supported. Our three pillars — Economic Independence, Pathways to Education, and Leadership and Advocacy — exist because none of these forces works alone. A scholarship without financial literacy leaves a woman educated and still vulnerable. A mentor without a path to opportunity leaves her inspired and still stuck.
We work at the intersection of all three, because that is where lasting change lives.
What You Will Find Here
In the blog, which we call the Journal of Empowerment, we will share updates and honest writing about the work of building better futures — one woman at a time. We will cover what our programs aim to do and why it matters. We will highlight the partnerships and people who make this work possible. And we will be transparent about the challenges, because the organizations that earn the most trust are the ones who tell the full story.
